그녀의 눈을 피하지 않았다.
한참을 마주보다,
그는 그림자처럼 사라졌다.

That night, for the first time,
Luke didn’t avoid her eyes.
He held her gaze for a long moment
before vanishing like a shadow.

엘리자는 얼어붙은 채
카메라를 움켜쥔 손을 떨었다.
그 눈빛은… 죽은 자의 것이 아니었다.

Eliza stood frozen,
her hand trembling around the camera.
That look… it wasn’t the look of a dead man.

“기자는 진실을 밝히는 자지만,
가끔은… 진실이 사람을 파괴해.”

“Eliza, reporters reveal truth,
but sometimes… truth destroys people.”

루크의 말이었다.
그때 그녀는 웃으며 대답했다.

It was Luke who said that.
She had laughed back then.

“진실이 누굴 죽이든,
거짓은 모두를 썩게 만들어.”

“Even if truth kills a man,
a lie rots the world.”

엘리자는 자신의 아파트로 돌아오자마자
벽장 깊숙이 숨겨두었던
루크와의 옛 자료들을 꺼냈다.

Returning to her apartment,
Eliza dug out a locked file
buried deep in her closet—
old records of Luke.

그녀는 그와 함께 했던
마지막 취재 현장,
그가 실종된 날의 기사,
익명의 제보들,
그리고...
‘화재’로 기록된 사망 보고서를 꺼냈다.

She retrieved files from their last case together,
the news of his disappearance,
anonymous tips,
and… a death certificate labeled “accidental fire.”

"넌 죽지 않았어, 루크.
그 불길에서 살아나온 거야…
혹은… 누군가 널 다시 살렸겠지."

“You didn’t die, Luke.
You walked out of that fire…
Or someone brought you back.”

그녀의 눈빛이
기자가 아닌 인간의 감정으로 흔들렸다.

Her gaze no longer held a reporter’s clarity,
but the trembling of a person
facing a ghost.

그리고 그녀는 마지막으로
작은 금속 조각을 손에 쥐었다.
루크가 생전에 그녀에게 맡긴 물건.

Then she held
a small metal token in her palm—
something Luke had given her before he vanished.

그 안엔 새겨진 글자가 있었다.

Engraved on it:

“The ones above must fall.”
“위에 군림한 자들을, 끌어내려야 한다.”
